Kalin Fisher, M.D.
Kalin Fisher, M.D.
Dr. Kalin Fisher, M.D., is a fellowship‑trained orthopaedic spine surgeon with First State Orthopaedics, specializing in advanced, minimally invasive treatments for both adult and pediatric spine conditions.
Dr. Fisher earned his medical degree from West Virginia University before completing his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland and the renowned R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. During his residency, he received specialized training in pediatric spine surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and participated extensively in complex revision and trauma spine procedures at the University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center, and the Baltimore VA Hospital.
Following residency, Dr. Fisher completed a prestigious spine fellowship at The Texas Back Institute in Dallas, where he trained with both orthopaedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. His fellowship included advanced instruction in minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement, complex revision surgery, and spinal deformity correction.
Dr. Fisher is committed to a patient‑first, motion‑preserving approach to spine care. He prioritizes nonoperative treatments whenever possible and recommends surgery only when necessary. When surgical intervention is indicated, he utilizes the most modern minimally invasive and motion‑preserving techniques—including cervical and lumbar disc replacement using prodisc® technology, which allows patients to maintain natural spinal movement while achieving long‑term pain relief.
A leader in innovative spine care, Dr. Fisher also performed Delaware’s first endoscopic spine surgery, bringing ultra–minimally invasive technology to the state. This technique uses a tiny incision—smaller than a fingernail—to access the spinal canal with minimal tissue disruption, resulting in reduced postoperative pain and faster recovery.
His clinical expertise includes:
- Microdiscectomy
- Spinal decompression
- Artificial disc replacement (cervical & lumbar)
- Minimally invasive spine surgery
- Spinal fusion
- Kyphoplasty
- Complex revision surgery
- Spinal deformity correction
Dr. Fisher is known for his compassionate communication style, clear explanations, and dedication to restoring function and quality of life as safely and efficiently as possible. His commitment to cutting‑edge techniques and individualized care makes him a trusted choice for patients seeking comprehensive spine treatment in Delaware.
